By today’s decision to appoint a representative of MANS in the Working Group for 23 negotiating chapter, the Government has acknowledged the mistake and relented under the pressure from local and international public. We hope that this example will be a lesson that there are consequences to bear for illegal acting.

The government’s decision has correct the previous illegalities, due to which MANS was removed from the Working Group for Chapter 23, with the aim to marginalize the subject of the fight against corruption and to prevent any discussion related to this main issue for Montenegro at the meetings of the Working Group .

This confirms that the previous government’s decision was made in a completely illegal procedure, and that the attempt to marginalize the fight against corruption was more than obvious. After persistent pressure from the domestic and the international public, the government has obviously had a bitter pill to swallow and, after all, allow MANS to participate in the Working Group.

As a member of the Working Group, we will insist on identifying main shortcomings in the fight against corruption, the individual responsibility of all those who were supposed to provide results but failed to do so, including representatives from the police, the prosecution and the judiciary, as well as on finally taking serious steps in order to ensure concrete results in this area.
