Instead of arresting criminals, the Special State Prosecutor’s Office is stifling freedom of speech

The Special State Prosecutor’s Office is conducting proceedings against Dragan Krapović for blocking an intersection, instead of, following brutal violation of powers of several police officers and beating up citizens who did not resist, determining whether a part of the police was criminally organized to protect one political party, contrary to the Constitution and laws.

Shameless conduct of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office in the case of Dragan Krapović, who is suspected of creating a criminal organization for blocking an intersection, shows that this institution has been transformed into service of the ruling party to oppress political opponents.

Slavoljub Stijepović entered the very Special State Prosecutor’s Office and left at the back door after disclosing of the Envelope affair, and they did not even think of suspecting, let alone accusing Milo Đukanović, even after he publicly admitted that his party had illegal sources of funding. The same Special State Prosecutor’s Office did nothing for two years in the case of fictitious donations from officials of the ruling party, as well as donations from Konik, and despite multiple pieces of evidence, he claimed that the affair “Recording” (Snimak) was a verbal offense.

Special State Prosecutor Milivoje Katnic

Only Milivoje Katnić did not see corruption in the Telekom case and removed the deals with Milo Đukanović and Ana Kolarević from the network of Duško Knežević like with tweezers. Only that State Prosecutor’s Office does not suspect that the money gained from crime was laundered in the bank “Prva Banka”.

Thus, Katnić does not see the crime of the top government officials, but instead, he is expressly prosecuting representatives of the opposition with meaningless accusations, at key political moments. He thus creates the practice that any critic of the regime can be suspected of criminal association for trivial reasons, arrested and removed from the public life at a time that suits the regime.

Therefore, we believe that the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, together with the police, is the regime’s spearhead, which does not hesitate to abuse its powers to pursue the interests of the ruling party, and it is becoming a threat to exercising basic human rights to freedom of speech, expression and political action.
