The High Court accepted the bail for Petar Lazovi\u0107, it was confirmed this morning to MANS Investigative Centre by the PR of that court, Marija Rakovi\u0107. The decision to accept the bail comes only two weeks after the same court rejected the guarantee of 1.2 million euros offered by his family for Lazovi\u0107, thus, it is not clear why the council of the High Court changed its decision.<\/p>\n

Petar Lazovi\u0107 was arrested on July 18 this year on suspicion of being part of a criminal group involved in international cocaine smuggling.<\/p>\n

Part of the property that was offered as a guarantee that Petar Lazovi\u0107 will be available to the competent authorities is the subject of a check by the Agency for Prevention of Corruption (APC), which confirmed at the beginning of October that the procedure for control over the assets of his father, Zoran Lazovi\u0107, had been initiated. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an earlier investigation into the assets of the controversial police official, Zoran Lazovi\u0107, MANS indicated the suspicion that the purchase of numerous assets and vehicles could not have been financed from official income, and that his sons Petar and Marko Lazovi\u0107 could not justify their lifestyle with their earnings in the state administration. Already at the age of 19, Petar Lazovi\u0107 was able to buy a car worth 40,000 euros, while his older brother bought real estate worth close to 70,000 euros already at the age of 22. \u00a0<\/p>\n

MANS requested that the complete documentation on the basis of which the High Court changed its decision be made available to the public, including the assessment of the immovable property offered as bail, as well as to publicly announce the basis of the new assessment that there is no longer any danger of Petar Lazovi\u0107 running away.<\/p>\n

We also ask the Agency for Prevention of Corruption (APC) to publish the results of the control of Lazovi\u0107’s assets as soon as possible, so that we do not end up in a situation where the suspect’s freedom is “purchased” with money that is suspected to have been acquired through criminal activities. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
