Since the very opening of the “Pandora Papers” case, which showed that the head of state and DPS leader Milo Đukanović and his son Blažo were preparing a complex international scheme for hiding income and property in offshore destinations, we harbour no illusions that the State Prosecutor’s Office of Montenegro is going to achieve any more serious results, the director of the MANS Investigative Centre, Dejan Milovac, told RTCG Portal. He said that regarding the fact that in a few days it will be four months since the opening of the “Pandora” case, while the State Prosecutor’s Office has not yet pointed out to possible guilt or innocence.
“Such case is simply outside Katnić’s professional capacity and, what is even more devastating, outside the borders within which he can move as a par excellence political puppet. MANS also expressed this suspicion when it disclosed data from the ‘Pandora Papers’ investigation, emphasizing that this was a case for a new prosecutor’s office that would not be captured by the political and profit interests of any party or an individual in power,” Milovac pointed out.
According to him, when it comes to Katnić himself and what has happened so far, everything is reminiscent of the “investigations and inquests” he has conducted so far against Đukanović or a member of his family, which usually ended “without remote suspicions”.
In the case of ‘Pandora Papers’, there is not even a hint of serious international financial investigation that should follow the information that Đukanović and his son hired an entire army of people and companies to hide their property in destinations known as tax havens and destinations where the world’s greatest criminals often hid their property to avoid criminal prosecution. What we see is Katnić’s intention to meet the minimum form, without any willingness, intention or motivation to address this case as it deserves”, Milovac concluded.
