Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SSPO) should specifically investigate the motivation of anyone outside the family circles of the Lazović family to offer a multi-million property as a guarantee of the availability of Petar Lazović to the prosecuting authorities, MANS Investigative Centre states. The Director of the MANS Investigative Centre MANS, Dejan Milovac, told RTCG Portal that a detailed financial investigation is necessary in this case.
“I believe that there are more than enough reasons to investigate, not only ties with close family friends, but also all other ties between the Lazović family and the network of related companies, including ‘Gufo’ and ‘Bemax’. This especially considering the connection with criminal clans for which Petar Lazović is suspected. The Special Prosecutor’s Office should specifically investigate the motive of anyone outside the family circles of the Lazović family, to offer multi-million property as a guarantee of Peter’s availability to the prosecuting authorities. Of course, such a thing presupposes a detailed financial investigation, which must include not only the immediate environment of Lazović, but persons with whom this family had business and other types of relations”, Milovac pointed out.
An earlier analysis by MANS shows who Željko Garić is, the owner of the company ‘Gufo’ from Podgorica, which offers real estate worth millions as a guarantee for Petar Lazović, son of the controversial police official Zoran Lazović.
“Lazović Sr. came to the public’s attention after MANS published a video from the wedding of Safet Kalić, who, in addition to Lazović who was then employed at the National Security Agency, was the very top of the then Balkan criminal underworld. Lazović Jr. is suspected by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office of having ties to the “Kavački“ clan. The company ‘Gufo’ was previously called ‘Fendy’, and it is known to the general public as the owner of the famous cafe “Grand”, which for many years was a gathering place for the political elite and the criminal milieu. The cafe was closed after an explosive device was thrown at it in September 2015. The board of directors of the company ‘Fendy’ (today’s ‘Gufo’) included Ranko Ubović, who later turned out to be the real owner of the company “Bemax” and Aleksandar Mijajlović, a close business partner of Ubović”, MANS stated.
They claim that in addition to the company ‘Gufo’, Garić is also the sole owner of the company ‘Budućnost Bemax Women Basketball Team’, with which the Capital City Podgorica concluded a contract on the management of the future sports and recreation center in Tološka šuma, and after ‘Bemax’ provided the club with a donation of 800,000 euros for the arrangement of that area.
“The company ‘Gufo’ appears as an investor in numerous residential buildings in Podgorica and on Montenegrin coastline, where works are almost always carried out by the company ‘Bemaks’. MANS previously revealed that the Lazović family are close family friends with the then formal owner of ‘Bemaks’, Veselin Kovačević, which, as they stated in this company, was the reason for Marko Lazović to buy an apartment from them at a privileged price”, MANS announced.
Let us remind you that legal representatives of the arrested National Security Agency officer, Petar Lazović, are offering 6.2 million euros in real estate and money in order for him to defend himself at freedom.
Lazović, who was arrested in July, is suspected of participation in a criminal organization, abuse of position, drug and weapon smuggling.
Petar Lazović is the son of Zoran Lazović, who until March 1, 2021, when he was dismissed, was the head of the Sector of the Police Administration for the fight against organized crime.
In Montenegro, there is an ongoing affair about the potential involvement of high-ranking police officers in organized crime. In a recent letter to the public, Lazović rejected all accusations.
