VanjaCalovicMedia violence of Informer toward Vanja Calovic, an activist of Civil society seeks to delegitimizes her strong and courageous effect on the establishment of justice and law in Montenegro.

Writing of “Informer” is a violation of all ethical standards in journalism, and its specificity lies in the fact that does not target Vanja Calovic in relation to her professional engagement, but first of all as a woman, trying to represent her in a way that will characterize her in Montenegrin society as immoral and unworthy to deal with public job. In this way, “Informer” continuously is doing discrimination based on gender, because they try to one leader of civil society in Montenegro reduce to a sex object and thus degrade professionally and as a person. Informer endangers by that not only human dignity of Vanja Calovic, but all the women in Montenegro but also all men who understand and support the concept of human rights and gender equality. Above all, writing of “Informer” represents a violation of the Constitution and laws in Montenengro which prohibit discrimination and prescribe the establishment of the principle of gender equality and equal opportunities in the private and public spheres.

We believe that this media lynch must be a signal for Montenegro to urgently initiate mechanisms for the protection of its citizens, Vanja Calovic and all the others who, because of the aforementioned texts are exposed to the lowest media violence.

That is why we are asking the Supreme State Prosecutor, and all other institutions dealing with human rights protection and promotion of policies of gender equality – the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Parliamentary Committee for Gender Equality Ombudsman, Council for Protection from Discrimination and others, to act according to the Constitution and the law and to publicly condemn and initiate the ban this way of the media deal with the women who dare to represent their professional positions in public life Montenegro.
